Hello, I'm Haydon B.

Haydon is a practising lawyer and a partner at Perth-based law firm, Juris Partners. Haydon holds a Bachelor of Laws from Edith Cowan University and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the esteemed Leo Cussen Centre for Law. Before his admission as a lawyer, he spent just over a decade working as an investigator within state government agencies and commissions. His expertise as an investigator spans areas such as financial crime, industry regulation, consumer protection and integrity. Haydon is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the High Court of Australia and the High Court of New Zealand. His professional focus primarily centres on criminal law, civil and commercial litigation and employment law. However, he occasionally revisits other areas of law in which he has previously practised if an interesting case comes across his desk. His admission to the practice of law at a mature age gave him a running start in the profession, leading him to appear as counsel almost immediately following his admission. He has appeared as counsel in a broad range of criminal and civil matters in the Children’s Court, Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court. He has also appeared in the State Administrative Tribunal for disciplinary proceedings and the Fair Work Commission for unfair dismissal and workplace bullying applications. Beyond his legal career, Haydon is actively involved in the community. He is the treasurer of the Western Australian Horse Council, the State’s leading advisory body for equestrian activities. He also sits as a permanent member of the judiciary in the disciplinary tribunals of the National Rugby League WA and the Australian Police Rugby League. Haydon’s community service includes previous roles as vice chairman of the Eastern Region Domestic Violence Services Network and non-executive director of legal and governance at Paediatric Nursing Services, two prominent nonprofit organisations. Haydon also works with the WA Police Academy, where he assists in assessing police officers undergoing detective training school. Until recently, Haydon was a weekly guest on 6PR Radio and a monthly guest on Curtin FM Radio, where he was invited to share his thoughts on current affairs and common legal issues. Haydon’s diverse background has given him a unique perspective and a talent for finding practical solutions to legal problems.
